GREEN BAY (NBC 26) – We all know how convenient ridesharing like Uber and Lyft are. Now imagine the same idea, except that you are hiring a lawn mower to mow your grass instead of hiring a driver to pick you up.

You don’t have to imagine it anymore.

“If someone called in a stranger to pick them up at some point, they’d do the same with lawn maintenance,” said Gene Caballero.

Caballero launched Greenpal in Nashville in 2012. Today the app is available in 250 US markets, including now Green Bay.

“We knew there would be a need for it at some point,” he said. “We knew that the mindset of consumers would change and everyone wants everything on demand and doesn’t want to wait for anything.”

The app is very easy to use; Homeowners simply enter their address and if they need a service in the app, all local, pre-checked providers are notified and can “bid” on this property, then the homeowner checks the provider and makes his choice.

“In the middle of summer, in the middle of a snow storm, you call 10 landscape architects and you will likely get 10 voicemails,” Caballero said.

Greenpal solves this problem, he said.

“It feels really good to be able to help someone make their life a little easier.”

So far there are dozens of lawnmowers on Greenpal for Green Bay. The app is free, you can find it in the App Store on your smartphone or online at
