Lakeview Lodge Care Home residents enjoyed a month’s stay.
Lakeview Lodge nursing home in Bletchley, Milton Keynes has given residents the chance to feel like they are on a month-long vacation.
With travel-related activities, international theme days and even special celebratory menus, residents can enjoy their best holiday memories and trips to different places.
Home Manager Claire Hedge explains: “We want to bring a vacation feeling to our nursing home. Few of us will be flying to an exotic location this year, so we thought we’d bring a little holiday vibe into our home. “
Residents ‘families were even able to get involved by submitting photos of residents’ favorite vacation spots in the UK or abroad.
During their “staycation” the residents could enjoy a tropical beach day in the garden with Bucks soda and ice cream to cool off.
They also enjoyed many garden activities, including games, building sandcastles, and arranging flowers.
Welfare Coordinator Georgia Morrison said, “We spoke to all residents about their vacation and how they would like to celebrate our stay theme. Lots of people have mentioned missing out on trips to the ocean during the lockdown, so we decided to take the beach to Lakeview Lodge.
Staycation Month was a great topic of conversation for residents and staff alike, with remembering proving beneficial, especially for residents with dementia.
The initiative has awakened many wonderful memories while looking at old photos together, be it with the employees or visiting families in the nursing home.
