Harry Kersley helps Invicta Court in Maidstone with their first birthday celebrations

Glorious sunshine and classical songs were the perfect combination when the Invicta Court nursing home in Maidstone celebrated its first birthday with guest of honor, opera singer and TV judge Harry Kersley.

The BBC juror “Altogether Now” played a variety of classical and contemporary songs in a socially distant manner in the garden of the house. From Bizet to Bobby Darin, Harry made everyone smile and tap their feet to the music.

After an afternoon of entertainment and a barbecue prepared by the house chef, the team served scones with strawberries and cream and a glass of sparkling wine on the terrace.

Resident Max, who was moving into Invicta Court with his wife, said, “It was a first class celebration. The best part of the day was without a doubt the opera tenor Harry singing. “

Another resident, Madge, said, “We all had a very good day – the team worked very hard to make sure it was a great success.”

Jacqui Pompeus, Home Manager at Invicta Court, said: “It was great to be able to celebrate this milestone in style. Harry brought up a wonderful occasion for our special day and the sun even put her hat on to join in. We are fortunate to have such beautiful gardens here at Invicta Court, and a celebration like this is a great way for residents to get outside and enjoy them.

“Last year has certainly been challenging, and I’m incredibly proud of the team’s efforts over the past 12 months to make residents’ lives as normal as possible. Our lifestyle team is passionate about helping everyone lead an active and fulfilling life, and since our days here at Invicta Court are often filled with music, it seemed very fitting to have a musician to help us celebrate our anniversary .

“We are excited to see what will happen next year and beyond”
