North Ayrshire residents can claim a 100,000 ton share of compost to be given away by the council.

If you’re based in North Ayrshire, the council’s free compost giveaway is a great way to give your garden a boost and improve nutrient availability for next spring.

Almost 12,500 tons of food and garden waste is collected in North Ayrshire each year.

This is then recycled into rich compost, which is made available for use by the community and offered to residents free of charge from time to time.

Since the compost is loose, everyone who wants to pick something up is asked to bring a bag and a shovel to the collection points. Every competition starts at 12 noon from:

  • Garrison House, Millport – September 11th 2021
  • Household Waste Recycling Center, Market Road, Brodick – September 13th 2021
  • Irvine Beach Park Car Park (near Harbor Pilot House), Irvine – September 14, 2021
  • Stevenston Shore, Trelawney Terrace Parking Lot – September 15, 2021
  • Kilbirnie Library Car Park (behind the library) – September 16, 2021
  • Vikings Car Park, Largs – September 17, 2021
