To kick off the spring planting season, Rivanna Solid Waste Authority will be giving away 40 pound sacks of McGill Soilbuilder Compost free of charge to the first 300 customers at the McIntire Recycling Center on Saturday while supplies last.
McGill is one of Albemarle County’s Compostable Food Waste Partners and processes all food waste that McIntire collects. This compost material is recycled from a large number of vegetative green waste, untreated wood waste, biosolids, agricultural by-products and food waste and is certified by the Composting Council with the seal of test security.
It’s a great addition to providing nutrients to grasses and plants, increasing soil organics, retaining moisture, and improving soil structure.
Staff are available to assist customers with carrying bags to their vehicles.
The McIntire Recycling Center is located at 611 McIntire Road in Charlottesville.
