Jim Moran, Victoria Agriculture Biosafety Officer for the Grain Industry, said winter crops were at a critical growth stage and, like the sports finals, would require “game-winning tactics” from farmers to get the best yields possible.

“Unnecessary yield losses can easily be avoided through good hygiene,” he says.

“Weeds, pests and diseases can arrive as seeds, eggs, spores and other microscopic particles and get dirty.”
