International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) May 1-7, 2022 – Save the Date! This year’s ICAW 2022 theme, Recipe for Regeneration: Compost, focuses on the critical role recycling of our food scraps and garden waste plays through making compost. When compost is added to the soil, it creates a recipe that makes our food more nutritious, the air we breathe cleaner, and our climate overall healthier.

The poster and video competition is now open. The design and video of the selected winners will be used to promote International Compost Awareness Week in the United States Submit your poster design or video by November 1, 2021.

  • Video competition (ages 10-13): Submit a short video (less than 30 seconds) teaching you about using compost, sending scraps of food into your compost bin or your town’s food waste collection, planting a garden with compost, or any other creative way you can that you want to share about ICAW and the others Topic, Recipe for Regeneration: Compost.
