Garden furniture stolen from a nursing home in Chigwell can now be replaced thanks to a community fundraiser that raised £ 1,500.

Care for the Pinewood Nursing Home – a facility for people with dementia – was stolen on February 2nd while staff were on the Manford Way grounds.

After the group from Save Our Green Space – Manford Way and Brocket Way Parks heard of the theft, they set about raising funds to replace what had been taken.

At the time, member Caroline Porter told the recorder they wanted to help residents who were “busy”.

Just over a month later, they were able to do just that. Caroline confirmed that the fundraiser has now reached £ 1500 thanks to a £ 410 donation from JDV Appliances in Ilford.

This means that not only can the garden furniture be exchanged, but new decking has also been ordered.
